What is Diamond Accent

By admin

If you had the pleasure of venturing into a jewelry shop or have a brief look onto catalog magazine or flier that feature jewelry. Speaking of which, you might as well catch the phrase, Accent diamonds. Well, these may not be as expensive as the larger ones, but still they have their own uses and properties. Following are a few examples of these. Learn them and see whether you should invest in these or not.

What is it?

Accent Diamonds better known as Diamond Accents are simply defined as gemstones that are small and bear a simple cut. These are used for inside decoration around center stone of a jewelry ornament such as a ring, necklace, bracelet or, etc. these are widely popular because of their ability of adding brilliance in any piece of jewelry. The Diamond Accents have rectangular, triangular or round shape.

Because these are less visible as they are outstandingly small, these diamonds are not cut with their number of facet as it tends to be the case with normal size stones.  For instance, round cut accent diamonds have only about 16 to 18 facets and these are called single cut where the bigger gemstones are better referred as full cut. The bigger stones have almost 58 facets.

Diamond Accent Carat

The Diamond Accent Carat don’t usually go over 0.25 carats in weight while most of them remain at 0.10 carats, or even less. If a ring contains accent stones, then it’s supposed to look seem uniform. You just need to make sure that they are close in size during the diamonds never match each other perfectly. Well, that doesn’t matter as long as they all create a strong impression when they are seen with the naked eye.

Tip for Buyers: You need to find a piece of Jewelry where accent diamonds are big enough to improve the overall appearance of center stone, but it makes the center stone stand out.

Color and Clarity

What is Accent Diamond? Their quality can better answer this question, these diamonds have low clarity, and these are usually graded SI or I. it means these diamonds have inclusions that these can be easily seen under magnification and thus they prove to be clear they the clear ones.

Accent Diamonds are small, and their inclusions can be hardly seen with naked eye. This is the reason behind the fact that jewelers have to pick out inexpensive stones for accents.  The Accent Diamonds are considered as the Nearly Colorless Grade; these are not completely colorless as the stones are very rare. However, the color is good as it’s enough for not making the setting and center of it yellowish.

How can you Buy Diamond Accents?

When you buy something with accent diamonds, you need to ask about quality and other characteristics. The problem is; Jewelers don’t spend enough time to discuss these accents if the buyer is not interested in asking such questions. If a Diamond Accent is bigger, then it’s suggested they are to be looked upon with the help of a Loupe.  Just make sure that the loupe is not damaged and it doesn’t have visible inclusions that handle ruining the look of the jewelry.

You also need to check the color and clarity as you don’t want them to set darker and light spots just some accents are yellow while others are clear.

Pay attention to the clarity of these accents if these are larger. You can easily shoot for SI clarity if the stone is around 0.10 carts or lower.
